After spending the night in Freiburg, we arrived in Savoyeux after a 2,5 h drive. We loaded our luggage on board and put everything in place. After a short introductory drive near the harbor, Felix and myself were on our own. We first negotiated a tunnel leading up to our first lock. We then mastered the first lock without real difficulties. Following the Saone downstream, we did 3 more locks and arrived at Gray. Here, we were wondering where we could best moor when suddenly somebody on the riverside tried to get our attention by waving and by whistling. First I thought, it was just somebody who wanted to sell us something in a very persistent manner. I then decided to come ashore nevertheless. It turned out that it was the owner of Saone Plaissance, where we had rented the boat. They had found out that the window of the Boxter was ajar. And after they did not reach us by phone nor email, they were kind enough to come to Gray to intercept us, get the car key and take it back to Savoyeux to close the window. As we were now ashore anyways and happened to have tied up the boat just in front of a restaurant, Felix and myself headed over and had a tasty lunch. We then went back to boat and slept the first night aboard.
