2020-08-25: Probe Hunters in Gaukönigshofen

My mum and myself intended to meet in Würzburg and go to our plot of land in Winterhausen  together. Realizing that a probe was flying from Stuttgart to Würzburg, we quickly changed plans and went after the probe. The prediction placed the landing zone in a field near Gossmannsdorf. Assuming that there would be no competition on a Friday afternoon, I took it easy. For tracking, I mostly relied on the online tracker of wetterson.de. The prediction shifted, and we changed our destination to Giebelstadt. Here, I checked for the signal and received the probe in about 3000m height. Arriving near the landing zone, I peeked for the signal again but could not receive it. As we were in a swale and the landing zone was in a field above, I was not really surprised. When we reached the field, we stopped and I tried to pickup the signal. Still no signal. When we were just about to go on to the last point from where telemetry was received,  we saw a car with 70cm antenna  coming towards us. That was DE1AFN, who had already recovered the probe and gave it as a gift to my mum. Never having chased a probe in real and now having got one, she was quite happy about it.
