Machuca is a small village up in the mountain. It consists of a couple of houses forĀ the 19 of its inhabitants, a church, some tourist shops, and a radio tower for mobile cell phones overlooking the village from a nearby slope. Except for its size and its elevation, I did not find the village really remarkable.

The satellite pictures resemble those of the Nile: Patches of green around the river, and a distinct line beyond which the desert begins abruptly.
