2026-05-27: From Corre to Fouchécourt

As usual, we started slow. To fetch Felix’s fresh morning baguette, I went to the Intermarché about 1 km away. It was already quite warm. And I bought gardening gloves so that Felix wouldn’t scrape his hands when negotiating the locks.

We did not feel like going on and our mooring place was comfortably situated in the shade. We spend the afternoon reading and surfing the internet before we finally cranked up the engine around 4 pm. With the locks shutting down at 7 pm, we just made it until Fouchécourt shortly after 7pm. Our friends from Hessen were already there.

It was only when the boat’s bow got stuck in the mud that I realized that this part of the harbor hadn’t been dredged. Fortunately, the engine had enough power to pull the boat back into deeper water. The restaurant advertised by a sign near the harbor wasn’t open, and a second one was still under construction as was the harbor itself.

The last time we were in Corre, we had moored next to a German woman and her family. The boat—registered in Fouchécourt—belonged to her parents. There was however no trace of the vessel; they had either sold it, moved it to another harbor, or were currently out cruising.
